Following the SOA elections of 20 July 2011 when we won a seat on the Management Committee, we are changing the format of this special section of the site. Henceforth we call it Manifesto 2011. It includes two sub-sections: the Enactment, which consists of a up-dated record of our acts, and the original Electoral Programme, which contains all the articles that were published during our campaign in May to July 2011. The essence of our programme remains the same: greater participation of author-members in the life of the Society and improvement in the quality of books published in the English language. These two goals are complementary: authors cannot survive without a quality market of choice open to them; a campaign for better quality books cannot pick up without wide author participation. Our slogan is ’Better Books!’
