Society of Authors, France (SOAF)

SOAF

The Society of Authors, France (SOAF) is a group of members of the London-based Society of Authors living in France. Its purpose is to provide for French-based members a forum of discussion, debate, networking, and the sharing of ideas and problems specific to the French experience. It has a particular commitment to helping members promote their works throughout the world.

SOAF was founded by Gregor Dallas at a meeting held in Paris in October 2006. All English-speaking writers based in France are most welcome to join us -- our members include French and German writers who work in English.

Official figures show that there are 550,000 British citizens now living permanently in France. It is thought that, unofficially, there could be over double this number. Contrary to myth, these are not retired people, but often young, active professionals. As the number of English-speakers living in France multiplies, so obviously does the number of English-speaking writers, though no figures are available. SOAF is here to help them.
